On Thursday May 1st 2008 Detroit 5th Battalion companies responded to a reported dwelling fire at Pingree & Second. Upon Arrival of Engine 39 they advised they were stretching on a vacant dwelling going throughout. Chief 5 then requested an additional company for RIT. Upon arrival of the Chief and building size up this fire was fought in defensive mode. The fire was brought under control using the full box alarm assignment plus an extra 2 engines & truck in about an hour and a half. Engine 39/35/17/5/23 Ladders 7/28 Squad 2 and Chief 5 responded to this box alarm.
